There are a number of places like the International Space Station and aircraft carriers on which exercise on machines is advisable and even mandatory for certain periods of time now these machines can easily be fitted with dynamos or high efficiency alternators so that the muscular energy is not wasted rather converted to electricity. This may seem small but is not in reality the ISS can generate a lot of energy this way and so can the gymns all over the world atleast it would make a small contribution to electricity generation.
Establishments have to become self sustainable and such small steps can make that happen if a gym can provide electricity to itself and an adjacent building for a few hours its a big change towards electricity conservation.
