Old age homes flooring tiles: In age old homes one should avoid using marble, granite, and vitrified flooring materials. By using
natural rough surface stones and
anti skid flooring we can avoid
slippage. Many elders and aged people
simply skid on the nice flooring and suffer from
multiple fracture of bones. The same can be implemented in
residences and bathrooms also.Based on the above idea, here is a way to make cheap but good looking tiles...
Make two wooden angles so that .. when the edges touch ... on floor it will look like a wooden square. make the thickness 1".. it become easy to make 1" thick slab with 1sq foot area. small nails
total 4 nos will help to keep the wooden angles togather.. Now place the 'tied' angles on a pvc sheet... put two bricks on the edges of the wooden frame so that it won't move easily.. Now mix white cement with yellow oxide
5 you may add a small quantity of portland so as to avoid cracks... Now mix redoxide with portland cement 1:4, mix thoroughly...
repeat thoroughlyNow mix yellow with water .. make it thick so that it wont run … make simple drop designs with in the frame .. let it dry.. for some time … pour the redoxide mix .. scrape with a scale to make surface even… allow two days…reverse and use......... A very contemporary red and yellow tile is ready..
