I am Prakash Vaithyanathan, a Science Teacher from Chennai, India. I am also associated with St.Hilda's School, Ooty, India. The problem that I am addressing is the wastage of water in trains especially in the wash basin context both in the coach and toilets. If this water that is let off can be collected at a common place beneath the coach which is attached with a suitable filter and a mechanism for killing the pathogens, this can be used to meet the needs of flushing the toilets. This way we could bring down the demands for fresh water otherwise and there-by save lot of water. The power requirements for pumping the water to all the coaches can be met by relying on wind energy or by relying on the batteries that accumulates energy. The filter can be periodically cleaned and this way we can save lot of water.
All the countries that have extensive network of Railways can benefit from implementing this idea. Surely we could save the precious ELIXIR OF LIFE and also provide plenty of job opportunities for people if the respective country can take this up for implementation.
I sincerely wish that every country comes forward to protect our "MOTHER"
