Right from my childhood days I am inspired by the beauty of sea shells. Beachcombing for sea shells is one of my favourite pastime. Never it occured to me any good use for the seashells other than artwork. Now I have the courage to propose a good use for them.

The seashells are a rich source of calcium and other ions. I wondered if they can be used for removing excess fluoride ions and other toxic ions such as cyanide ions or any toxins from water sources. The calcium ions can react with fluoride ions to form calcium fluoride which is not toxic due to its insolubility in water. To ensure the availability of calcium ions I can make the water slightly acidic ( or to whatever extent required) by using natural sources of acid such as lemons or gooseberries. It is agreed that any source of calcium ions can be used but it must be ensured that calcium ions are readily available.

USING SEA SHELLS FOR DE-FLUORIDATION WILL BE A REALLY COST EFFECTIVE METHOD THAN ANYTHING ELSE.

POWDERED SEA SHELLS( NOT AFINE POWDER BUT VERY SMALL CHIPS) CAN BE USED FOR THIS PURPOSE.

I AM ALSO WONDERING IF IT CAN ACT AGAINST THE PATHOGENS IN THE WATER.

The seashells can also be used for packing of carbon dioxide and help to offset global warming.

I am willing to stretch my imagination and propose that the shells can be used to produce hydrogen.

The seashells are available in plenty and they are indeed "RENEWABLE".

I have started the experiment and, if GOD willing, the results may be in the affirmative.
