(404) Global food crisis

30 heads of state are right now attending the FAO summit at Rome, focus on the global food crisis. At the end the summit will produce an "Action Plan" that will prove short and slow as usual.
The food crisis is causing starvation in millions of people of the third world. It's really a mankind's problems and I would love to think than any of us, as individuals, can contribute a little bit to solve it.
I'm posting this problem in the hope that many of you will answer posting your solution.

Nos hemos instalado en una hipocresía que llama solidaridad a la supuesta ayuda que estados envían a paises con problemas económicos y sociales profundos pero que no dejan a esos mismo paises comercializar libremente sus productos en nuestros mercados. Por eso desde P-Lib proponemos: abolir la Política Agrícola Común (PAC) y establecer un auténtico mercado libre agrícola, pesquero y ganadero en Europa y respecto al resto del mundo. El proteccionismo debe desaparecer de la economía europea, y particularmente en este terreno. Nos parece hipócrita que Europa destine millones a la cooperación con países a los que, simultáneamente, cierra las puertas de sus mercados.	Report Abuse


	by Wardo (Southampton, United Kingdom) July 17th 2008 since: 07/17/2008, Brain-fu: 130 Stop wasting food. In the UK, 18% of food purchased is thrown away (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/7389351.stm). This is a time when people are complaining about food prices! If this stat is common in the west, presumably saving a fifth of the food used in the west will mean less pressure on production and help the problem?	Report Abuse
