Recession InsuranceAfter the recent (and apparently ongoing) global economic 'recession', I wondered if any business, bank, or institution had considered the possibility of taking out an insurance policy against a recession, that would enable them to stay in business at a desired capacity throughout the harder times until more favourable conditions prevail once again, without having to make extensive cuts in the scale of their operation or workforce.I have been surprised to find, after some b...

After admitedly cursory research, I think I have an idea for how to help reduce the effects of certain types of tsunami. Some deep sea eathquakes caused by subduction of tectonic plates release energy that builds a wave that does the damage when it reaches landfallSo if you could absorb the energy, or even some of it at source, the smaller the wave, the less damage it does.I think turning this massive energy into work, or even just disrupting and diffusing it might be possible by palcing...

Fish are able to breathe underwater by seperating the oxygen they need from the water through their gills by swimming.Shouldn't it be possible to make a system that does this for humans? This would eliminate the need for compressed air tanks, and allow you to stay underwater indeffinately.

While the governments of many nations are secular in their administration, they are elected to represent the interests of many faith groups, as well as those who do not adhere to any defined religion. But in the light of the ongoing 'war on terror', there have been too many incidents an instances of a degenerating spiral of stupidity both here in Britain, and abroad centred around the most visible symbolic differences between people of differing faiths... as many have not taken the time to und...

When we begin to teach children, we use the activity of play, and engage their natural interest and curiosity in the world around them to encourage them to learn.A simple toy with bright colours and which makes various noises, while amusing for a child, uses this to impart other concepts, such a colour distinction, shapes, textures, and so on.But this proven method seems to be discarded in later life, as specialised subjects are taught separately, and distinctly from one another... maths, is ...

A recent item on the news told of a case where a man broke into another man's house and threatened his family.... It went badly for the invader and he fled. But the man who's family it was chased him and beat him severely causing permanent damage. The invader was convicted naturally, but the other guy was threatened with almost as harsh a sentence for beating the guy, as it was deemed unreasonable and excessive force.I think everyone has sympathy for the man and his family in this s...

Having recently commented on an idea (No 72 877), It occured to me that there is a problem when communicating an idea or comments to people in other languages......We all use regional dialects, local phrases and words, abbreviations and euphamisms in the course of everyday speech, so that even within the language we speak, for instance Spanish or English, we have what could be described as sub-language.When we therefore try to communicate to each other through a translation process, we c...

The fuel tank in any vehicle which operates an internal combustion engine is nearly always a hard plastic box construction which is designed to both contain the fuel, and be able to withstand the rigours of operation when the vehicle is in motion... including the ability to survive an impact as might occur in a crash situation, so as not to cause a fire or leak that may lead to a fire or explosion in this circumstance. But I think there is one obvious flaw in this design which could be remedie...

Vending machines that dispense fully charged batteries for different types of mobile phone, laptop, as well as standard sizes for cameras gadgets etc.But you insert your used/empty battery as part payment, so then you only pay for the electricity. It means people wouldn't throw away batteries once they are used as they can get new full ones for them, and it would then act as a control for recycling these hazardous materials. It could also be used for light bulbs.

Listening to the radio on a low volume at night usually is enough to get me to sleep. Why not have a children's radio station that plays the kind of soft, soothing music babies like 24 hours a day, so when they start crying in the middle of the night and the parent is tired too, they can just switch the radio on, and know there will be some relief. It could have quietly read kid's stories as well as soft music.
